Far from the no-frills, no-hookup camping of yesterday, many campgrounds at state parks are going high end and packing in the amenties like pools and mini-golf. Some are also starting to offer full hookup sites, have full service comfort stations and camp stores so you can pick up ice or the items that you forgot to bring. Here are a couple that caught our eye.
If you stay at Pipestem Resort State Park in Pipestem, WV, you can enjoy full hookup sites, a pool, mini-golf and boat and bike rentals, and a camp store with ice and firewood. They also have 26 cabins so you can bring your non-camping friends and family along too!
For those in the mid-west, there is Lake Murray Resort State Park in Ardmore, OK. This park has a pool, mini-golf, arcade, tennis courts and bike rentals to keep you entertained. It also has both full and water and electric hookup sites as well as no-hookup sites for the tenters.
As RVing continues to grow in popularity, we can most likely expect this trend to continue. If you like the quiet getaway that the traditional state and national parks have to offer, you needn’t worry though. There are still plenty of those around too.
